hole in underside

I have a '94 325 convertible that has a hole/opening in the underside that I obviously need to plug. It is an oval opening under the drivers foot well. It looks like a tow truck driver may have simply reached under the car and found any place to hook a tie-down chain. :screwy: Then he cranked it down an bent the crap out of my underside and ended up leaving a large opening right to my carpet.:angryfire
First off does anybody know what this hole was/is originally for?
Second, it appears that there is/was some sort of oval rubber plug that should fill this hole. Does anybody know what the P/N for this plug is?
My option "B" is to simply silicone a plate over this hole in my floor board after I try and bend it back into shape.

Proberly was a water drainout access hole which would have had a rubber seal inserted to take out when needed and replaced.

Actually, looking closer this WAS a round hole that is now oval. I guess I will have to just take a hammer and do my best to beat it flat and then silicone something into the remaining hole.
Next week I'm taking it over to rust check to get their rust proofing applied so that should not be an issue.
