what's up to everyone...well i'm new here to the forum, so this is my first post...i thought i would post this because every time i looked at the forum i found quite a few people with problems with their cars stalling after shifting in gear...i have an 86 cutlass supreme, and i've ALWAYS had this problem...what i finally figured out (which will probably be to much of your guys' surprise) is most of the time theres not a mechanical problem with the engine...what i've learned to do is just let the car warm up for about 5-7 minutes after you've started it, then rev the engine once to release the high idle, and you should be able to shift in gear and take off with no problem...this covers several issues i've read about (rough taking off, engine shaking, engine shut-off, etc.)...try this before you start tearing up your engines to find problems, and if this doesnt help, then i would look into some of the other things people have mentioned...but this has helped me, and my car actually runs better now that i do this...hope this helps at least someone out there! hey, you never know...you might save yourself some money on a no-brainer...
