New 2005 Express 3500 questions

Just bought our 2005 express 3500 extended passenger van and we are excited about it. I have a couple of questions though and would appreciate any help:
1) Is it pre-wired to hook up a brake controller?
2) Any recommendations on adding an extra transmission cooler?
3) How is it different than earlier years (body, engine, etc) - useful in looking for aftermarket accessories?
4) Any problems if I add a bug shield?
5) Anyone ever put fender flares on one and where did you find them?

Hi Greg,
The Express vans were redesigned in 2003. The rear of the frame is the same as the 2002 and older vans, and Reese and Drawtite hitches from the earlier vans (back to 1996 I think) are compatible. There is a front Drawtite hitch for the earlier vans that can be used on the new vans if you drill your own holes in the frame. There used to be a Bushwacker fender flare that fit the 1996 to 2002 models but it has been discontinued because of lack of sales. I don't know if it would fit the 2003 and newer vans? There is only one other fender/body flare available (that I know of) that goes the entire length of the van. I don't really like it, as it makes the van look entirely too civilized.
I have been rather disappointed at the lack of selection for accessories for the Express vans. There is a lot of commercial equipment out there racks, shelving, etc. My van came with the transmission and engine oil cooler, so one is available. But I am sure you could install an aftermarket unit for less money.
I started a new group to discuss the newer Express and Savana vans on Yaho o groups, but I don't think I am allowed to give a link to it here. You could email me personally if you want and I can tell you more about how to find it.
