Yet another 550 in the works, I'm doing a basic build except I'll use the complete Maisto interior as it will look better than the kits. I didn't do the fixes that hirofkd did, just keeping this one simple then I'll go more in depth on the 575.

So far I have the body coated with Variprime til I decide what color it will be...then I'll put on either gray or white primer accordingly. I included a pic of the Maisto interior which will need the fake engine bay sawed off to fit the Fujimi 550.

Looks like the 550 is the model of the week. I'm anticipating your usual outstanding results. Pick a nice color.

Are you going to sand down the Maisto dashboard? It's so grainy looking I'd be tempted to use the Fujimi dash and the rest of the Maisto parts. I might do the same, but I'd want to use Burago door panels. I'll figure all that out once my paint is finished.

Look at the Maisto seat belts-the seat belt needs to go through the trim piece on the side of the headrest, and the inner piece on each headrest needs to be trimmed off.

Fujimi's upped their game on bodies, but their interiors are still pretty lame in many respects :disappoin .

Yeah, I'll put a couple coats of primer on it and smooth it down some...it'll look good enough. Overall it blows Fujimi's interior away.

Actually it's five. Kunta, hirofkd, me, Veyron, you, and who knows where it goes from there?!

I'm trying to have mine finished this weekend. Eric and Matt are probably ready to start theirs too.

Oops. Made a mistake when counting to five... The more the merrier of course!

While I'll try my best, I'm kinda pessimistic about me finishing mine this weekend, but I'll be looking forward to seing yours. Brian's also planning to paint his today, and if he does, he won't be too far from completion too.

Mine's well into "started", so add one more to the list. I have all the parts cleaned up and ready for primer, The maisto seats (thanks to Veyron) are cut out and ready to be fixed up to replace the kit seats.

Now the hardest part.... deciding on a color.......

That looks great. Did you use automotive paint for the base, and is it OK to use Tamiya TS-13 clear? Also how long did you wait before clearing? Sorry to ask, just that I'm about to spray my first model with automotive paints, and I'm not sure on how to clear it.

Thanks.

Yes, MCW is automotive lacquer and it is TS-13.

I airbrushed three coats of blue and 3 coats of clear...all 10-15 minutes apart.

Good choice Brian. That's a nice lively blue that suits that car well.

cool car, but that would look awsome with a thick white stripe down the middle

Blue suits it very nicely :smokin: . Are you still planning blue on the Skag?

No white stripes, please  .
