The funniest thing happened...AGAIN

So yeah...My luck is craptastic and must be wearing thin. Today I was going down the road doin' about 50 MPH when I heard a nasty BAM! It sounded like my car backfired. Not only did I about crap my pants, but I think I also had a heart attack. Anyway, it turns out that a big rock (me and rocks, I swear) hit my drivers side side-view mirror housing, broke through that, then hit the back of the mirror itself. The rock then proceeded to push the mirror out the housing, into the side of my car where it scratched the paint, and then off into the abyss they call the side of the road. Wonderful...
So now not only am I missing a mirror, I also have a nasty hole in my mirror housing. Oh and a nice scratch from where the mirror and my paint met. Eww.
And WTF is up with my luck with my car?!? I'm usually not a praying man, but at this point, I don't think it can hurt one bit...
Ummm...also, whats a good way to go about getting this fixed? Forget the stealership. I was thinking junk yard, but then if I go to replace the housing, I would have to first remove the tweeter on the inside of the door and I'm not quite comfortable with doing that. Any ideas I'm open to.

You have the worst of luck. I guess they don't call it the Rocky Mountain State for nothing. :lol2:
But seriously, the plastic tweeter panel can be removed very carefully. Its the standard GM plastic fastening clips. If you're going to a salvage yard to get a replacement mirror, get one thats still attached to a wrecked Alero and watch the parts person remove it. Thats what I do when it comes to trim parts and panels, etc. Also those guys are real helpful giving intructions because they want you to buy the part. Good luck!

Do you have the power or manual mirrors? The GM part number for a power driver's side mirror assembly (left) is 22676405. GM list is $120.45 and GMPARTSDIRECT.COM $71.05.

Oh sweet, dude! I really needed that part number. I must have only selected the manual mirrors. I'm definately just gonna skip the junk yard and go with GMPartsDirect.com. I was thinking it was gonna be about $200 for the housing.
Now one other question: Do you know if that comes just primered or what?

Jeremy, according to my Mitchell guide the part comes primered black ready for painting. The advice code is code is (P) which means paint to match. Good luck!
