Installing new Gauges on a '00 Blazer

Hi everyone. First time AF poster here!

I just purchsed a new gauge face for my 2000 Blazer 4wd 4dr, and I'm ready to put them in. So Now I need to start taking the dash board off, and well I dont really know where to start. Another problem is that usually when I take things apart, something breaks, it seems to be a curse for me. So I figured that before I butcher the dash of my beloved Blazer, I will seek help from people who know what they are doing. So that brings me to a couple questions I hope someone can answer.

First question. What tools am i going to need?

Second. Whats the first thing I need to take off? The dash board looks to be three seperate pieces, maybe more? So whats the first thing that needs to come off? If somebody could give me some steps to get all the way down to the gauges....... that would be more then awsome! Cheers

First of all welcome to AF. Second of all, you won't need many tools to do this, you'll need a 7 or 8 mm socket (not really sure which one) and maybe a screw driver. The dash trim itself just simply pops off, but do try to be gentle while doing this. Next you'll need to disconnect the wires to your back window washer and headlights and 4 wheel drive buttons. You will also need to remove a crap load of screws (socket) in all the lower paneling. There is one screw that is kinda hidden right above all the gauges. Just be careful to remember what screws went where cause not all of them are the same length. As far as the gauge face goes... well i've never done anything like that but maybe you can figure that out easier than i can. This should get you started on your new gauge face. Good luck.

One more question though. Should I take the bottom part of the dash off before I pop off the dash trim? Because the trim won't seem to come off.

yes, i'm pretty sure that needs to come off, but only the top part should need to come off.

there are bolts uner, kind of on a tab, you need to take the lower pannel off to expose these screws

Thanks. All that has been really helpful so far. I do have another question though. You mentioned disconnecting the wires and all, and now I have gotten the dash trim off, I see all the wires I need to disconnect, but I cant' seem to get the to disconnect. Anything special you have to do?

there are tabs, most on the bottum, they are a bitch to push in, but you must push the tab so it "unlocks" the connector from the plastic, then pull it out of its socket
