The auto theft light keeps coming on in my son's caar. At first the car would not start then finally it started then the air would come on and off. But throughout all the strange happenings the auto theft light was on No idea what was done to make it come on except the battery went dead and a new one was bought along with a new alternator. Any suggestions I am at a loss....Is there a way to rest the suto theft device we did not know we had on the car???Please help us!!!

I actually had that problem a while back when I first bought my car. Same year too. First, I'd pull all the fuses to see if that does anything. Kinda like rebooting. If the theft light stays on, you have a big problem you can't fix yourself.
Now, I didn't get the car fixed myself, so I'm going on what someone told me they had to do. Supposedly there's ***EXPENSIVE*** piece of plastic in the steering column that needs to line up perfectly or else it trips the thing.
Personally, I'm not sure I believe it. Never heard anything about it before. But... with that being said, definately call a GM dealership in your area and probe them for questions.
