cold 6-bolt

Quick question: Ever since doing the "6-bolt head swap" it takes about 10 mins to warm up to a decent operating temp.(to get the water temp needle to go from extreme bottom to about a quater ways up) I was wondering if this was the case for all 6-bolt head swaps or did I just do something wrong :shakehead ??? Thanks
