My gf's Civic (95' coupe LX) has this rattle sound coming from the steering wheel area. Has anyone had this problem, and how did they fix it?
Its really annoying at speeds over 30 MPH... if it were my car I would have taken the dash apart by now, but she has an airbag and I'm thinking this might cause a problem if I take it apart...
Thanks...

The tires are fine and an allignment done not too long ago (6 months?)...
It sounds like something's loose in the steering wheel column, like a screw of bit of plastic - is it possible to take this apart without the airbag going off?

I'd guess that just pulling your battery and disabling the on car electronics would also disable the airbag. call up the dealer and just ask them.

Before you start messing around with anything in tat general disconnect power to the SRS computer by removing the battery terminals. Then poke around all you want with the help of manual. Just don't have anyone in front of the airbag when you reconnect the terminals.

roll the car upside down and see if anything falls out...
Seriously, When was the last time the injectors where cleaned. Dirty injectors could cause the car to shake but not really at the steering column. Does it happen when you brake or just when accelerating... If it is when you brake you may need to get your rotors turned... If is it just like something is loose, disconecting the battery will disable the airbag... Speaking of which... Any one want to but a driverside or passenger side air bag from a 95 civic EX?

Probably just something loose or hitting on the steering column... does it sound like its coming from INSIDE or something OUTSIDE? If its inside, dont even bother disconnecting the battery, grab a 10 or 12 mm socket (dont remember which) get on your back and loosen the big "crash beam" bolts (two - one on each side) and now you have a good view of everything that could possibly be causing the rattle.
My guess, if its coming from inside... that something is hitting the "crash beam" or the "Crash beam" itself is causing the noise... tighten the bolts down decently (dont like torque them to holy hell) and you should be all set. But remove it first to check for anything that could be causing it!
