Im sitting here at work reading all the responses to eveyones problems tryiing to figure out my own. My car is overheating up to the redline. took it to a local shop who said nothing was wrong with it, but i had them change the thermostat. He said that helped keep it cool. Picked it up drove about 3 miles, overheated, went back to shop and it overflowed in their parking lot. Im going to fix it myself now... Im thinking about changing the waterpump, and adding an electric fan on the front of the radiator to help it stay cold, after i get off of work. Has anyone put a electric fan on their 1991 caprice classic? Also I too need to fix my antenna, its stuck with the motor running. I pulled the fuse but my horn, and interior lights dont work. I have to take it in for safty and inspection this week, should i get a new one and put it in. Is it hard? Thanks Brandon

before you replace the water pump, check to make sure that you have enough coolant, ir just get a system flush

I just got an oil change with the works about 4 days ago, its full with fluid.
Maybe ill get the system flush to see how that works. Im not too familiar with system flushes, but is it just a chemical that cleans it out good? Also is there a way they can check my radiator cap for holding the pressure?

i ordered it from my old job at Keystone automotive you can go to www.driverfx.com and search for it the electric fan i got was designed for the early 90's impala and required very minor modification basically drilling holes and bolting it in place. i can't remember the part number of my head i'll try to find it for you but no promises

my 91 overheated on me also....at first it would be alright but when i was idle thats when the temp would rise......i got a new water pump and thermo.....flushed it and then intsead of a 50/50 mix of coolant(dexcool i think) i just kept it undiluted ....worked perfect for me!.......i going to get a new radiator soon just cause the one i have is the original(old) tell me how that electric fan works out

I had the same same problem on my first caprice. I replaced the fan clutch with a heavy duty version I got from autozone for about $40.

2 electric fans were standard on Impala SS, try to figure it that way. Or, change the wather pump, youre problem seems like this kind of problem.

There were no LT1 caprices in 91, and there weren't any impala ss cars either

He has a point; the 91 Caprice did not come with the LT1, but this has been discussed in previous posts. Unless the original engine has been replaced, it came either with the L05 or L03, not LT1.
