My nephew has a 97 ford escort and we need to know if parts from a 96 escort wagon will interchange?

I don't think so. The 96 was the last year for the 2nd generation escorts and the 97 is a 3rd generation escort. The 2nd generation Ford Escorts were from 91 to 96 and the 3rd generation Escorts were from 97 to 02. They are pretty much completely different cars.

a lot of things are obviously different. however, i had a 93 and now i have a 97. some things look pretty darn familiar. i coudlnt say for sure, but i woudlnt be surprised if hte transmission, brakes, clutch, fluid reservoirs, speakers, seats, etc were the same. no promises, though.

i find one good way to find out if something is the same is have them look up the part you need at a parts store. look it up for both a 97 escort and a 96 escort and see if the same part is reccomended.

ive done that repeatedly, checking if certain things will work, and they've never been annoyed with me.

cheers,
anthony

sixleggedinsect is right. I know for a fact that the radiators are the same. I think starters and alternators too. Also common things like bulbs and batteries. Go to your parts store and have them check the parts numbers. On a weekday when they aren't too busy. I didn't mean to carte blanche all escort parts.

A lot of parts are the same, it just depends on the part. What parts are you thinking?
