It's a mid-30s Ford coupe right? Anybody know the exact year?

definitely. Either a '35 or '36- but hard to tell which because it's been customized a bit.

I agree, except that particular car is a fiberglass body replica of a mildly customized Ford.
If you look closely, you will not see a seam for the trunk lid - a sure sign of a fiberglass body.

Good observation.
But I might say mmmaybe. Part of what made the '35-'36 models unique was that they were different in back in this exact way. The '33-'34 had a very pronounced roll pan- the highboys from that vintage look like they have a "ducktail" (right?)
But the '35 is reeeeeally different. The deck lid sinks really low into the rear bodywork.
I think that in this particular photo has some sort of reflection that doesn't allow the cut at the top of the decklid to be seen. But the gap around the decklid on this particular body style folows the body bead- exactly as the picture shows.
Still looks like a stock bod w/ mild mods to me.

It's easier to tell the year on these looking at the headlight buckets, which you can't see well in the pic. Generally, the headlight buckets got deeper as the 30's progressed. Very shallow on 29-32, little deeper plus a raked grille on 33 and 34, then much deeper on 35-38.
