Rubicon

Has anyone heard that the Rubicon transfer case makes more noise than the standard wrangler TFC? I took mine to the dealer for a slight noise while under way. He told me that this was a common complaint of the Rubicon and the have a grommet that replaces the transfer case vent and directs the noise away from the cabin? Sounds like BS to me but what do I know. The also told me that many first time Wrangler owners hear these strange but "normal noises". Any comments, ideas? Thanks, Jeff

Yes, it makes more noise going to 4lo. The regular Wranglers have a low range that's 2.7 : 1. The Rubicon has 4:1 ratio for low range, so it's harder to engage and you have more gear clash. Just slow down to barely moving to reduce the clash.

Going to 4hi should be a quiet procedure.

It's louder, because of the teeth count of the 4:1. But drain it and run 75W140 Full synthetic, and it'll quiet right up.
