tranny code P0715

97 Explorer CEL on and is showing a P0715 (Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction) OBDII code. The trans shifts hard between 2nd and 3rd, the rest are normal. The car has 172k on the orig 5R55E trans, last serviced about 8-10 weeks ago, fluid and filter. The tech said that the trans looked fine at that time, although there were 2 codes in memory (no lights), TC L/U failure and a Reverse slip, they were not able to recreate either

I have been pulling my hair out on this and seem to be spinnig mhy wheels and getting no where. I have reset the computer several times, cleaned electrical connections, etc.

Has anyone else run across this problem? Are their any suggestions on what type of a diagnostic I can run to attempt to narrow if the fault is in the wiring harness, computer or trans.?

What I can find on the Code PO715 is an input speed sensor on the transmission. Usually causing probelms with 3rd and sometimes 4th gear. I would check a manual to find the location of the sensor to find if you can change it yourself.
