Strarting Problem

I just got a 99 Sunfire a couple months ago and have been having some starting problems with it ever since. It starts hard. It will turn over 6 to 12 (on average, the degree of how hard it is to start always varies) before starting. Luckily for me it has never failed to start. Also it seems to only happen after the car sits for at lease about a half an hour.
I have done everything I can think of to fix it. There are no after market parts in the car except a new stereo that I put in a week or so ago and a not working security system that came with the car from the previous owner that I haven’t taken out yet. I have so far replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires, throttle position sensor, and air temperature sensor. I have taken it to a shop where they charged me $120 to look at it, replace the fuel filter and say they couldn’t find anything. I have also cleaned and checked the injectors and idle control sensor. I know the battery is good because I got it from my last car. And the fuel pump is good because I can here it turns on and the shop tested its pressure and said it was fine.
I’m running out of ideas on what it could be.
It is a ’99 Sunfire with a 2.2 engine, automatic transition, and around 81k miles on it.
Please help.

dang thats a big one.. u clean the trottle body? ignition coils bad? vacuum leak? best bet would always be to take it to a dealer they speciaze in ur specific car and know alot more than a general mechanic.

my wifes 94 cavalier has what sounds to me like the same exact problem. so far all i have changed is the plugs and wires. it starts fine when cold. and runs fine when started. but when i drive it 14 miles to town, shut it off for a half hour or so it has trouble starting. turns over, tries to fire, then free spins the starter. you have to keep trying a bunch of times, and if it takes a lot of tries the engine light goes on. it almost sounds like an old engine trying to start when the timing is advanced too much, but im not sure. i might try the coils next. if i get it fixed before you get yours i will let you know. perhaps you could let me know if you get yours fixed?
