Oil Cap Stuck

Just yesterday, I was trying to remove the oil cap on the engine (I was being curious, and in case I ever needed to add oil) and I couldn't. It turns a once or twice, and then stops. I cannot unscrew it completely. I've never seen this before on any vehicle I've owned.

Any ideas? :banghead:

Try turning it as far as you can and then pull straight out. Some of the newer ones are not screw in but have a notch that must be aligned and then pulled out.

Ah, OK. I'll give that a shot & let you know. Thanks for your input!

Mine started doing this about two years ago.

Seems the cap expands or the throat on the filler contracts; - take you pick!

I filed the edges of the cap to clean it up and greased it with white lube.

Seems work a bit better, but if I keep filing, it will turn into a toothpick!

Thanks for the info. It turns out you were exactly right! :icon16:
