Too Good to be True???

This is a 1999 Eclipse GSX. I am the second owner and all miles are original. I'm being deployed to Iraq in a few days and probably wont be back for 2 years or so. I bought this car from a repo shop in Florida for $4,000 last year and noticed some things have been done to it. I have no idea exactly what's in it being that it was taken by force from someone and he must not have been kind enough to tell them exactly what they were taking. All i know is that this car runs perfect and has nothing wrong with it. 63,500 Miles

Ok....There has to be a catch, or maybe someone just doesn't know what it's worth????

Input please!

Thanks,
Kyle

It's worth a lot more than $4k, sometimes you'll get really lucky, i got a 90 gst for $250 with a bad ecu

Sorry no one here is a mind reader your gona have to give more information on the cars condition before any of us can judge if its a good deal or not.

63 K miles though is an awsome start, its not even broken in yet! lol. so thats an awsome start. get more info on the car and all its conditions, go check it out your self if posible, then if you still need second opinions come back.

Maybe the previous owner is trying to find the car  Maybe his name is Bubba.

It says they paid 4 from a repo shop but how much are they selling it for?? The wording sounds like a scam. Bitches.

They are selling it for $4000, that is not part of the quote sorry. and he said he'll ship to nevada for free with his brothers shipping company. I pay a deposit, then if i still want it after the inspection, I pay the rest or make payments.

I don't think this is a good deal to get yourself into. Is there anyway you can go see the car yourself? I don't care where he is going, he should know how much his car is worth, no one in their right mind is gonna sell a 99GSX for 4000, and if it is true, it wouldn't be there for you to take. If hes getting deployed like he says, he could very easily leave the car to his family to sell. If you can see the car and can actually talk to this guy then I say pay the 4000 and run as far and as fast as you can, but don't pay sight unseen.

Oh wow! A GSX for that cheap? I might be wrong, but I think there was something like this in another board, except replace "Iraq" with "Korea" or something like that. So who knows? It might be the same scammer trying to pull the same crap on more people.

That car sounds too good to be true for that price. The seller sounds like he is hiding something. When I buy a car, one of the first things I would check is how much it is worth in today's market. I wouldn't send the seller any money unless I know I'm buying the car for sure. If you can't inspect the car first and have it checked before you hand over the money I wouldn't do it. Could be a scam and since you're dealing directly with him it'll be difficult for you to get your money back if it is one.

This is a low price for a GSX with that many miles. I would suggest you get the VIN number. Run it on carfax and look if it had major accidents, milege fraud or anything out of the ordinary. The cheapest GSX that I have found after searching was a 1997 with 117K miles and he wanted $8999. Run VIN if you dont have an account , post it here and I can run it for you. Also it would be best if you could see the car and test drive it before you pay for anything. Whatever you choose, good luck :)

Its a scam....c'mon, his brothers shipping co? Sounds like the guy on CL who was stationed in italy selling a bone stock 98 6 speed supra TT w/68k on it for 6grand.

It's prob tru i am in the mill and people sell there shit all the time for stupid cheap.. I seen a 2005 GSXR750 for sale on base asking 4500.00 never been layed over he payed cash for it and is being shipped out so cant ever ride it.
This happens all the time mill guys pay cash for there car then get the word and try to sell it quick So they have some cash to get something where they are going. It sux for them good for you. My friend sold his 97GSX for 2,000 he got word 3 days before he left so no time to try and get more. Thats all he could get in that short of time.
