I have a 94 with 150K miles. 3.8L series L engine. Occasionally the the check engine light comes on and occasionally it stalls when coming to a stop. I dont have a tach, but I woulod guess it surges from about 800 RPM to 1500 RPM, cycling back and forth. I have an OBD-II reader, but the 94 was an in between OBD-1?, with the correct 16 pin connector, but I get an error when I try to scan it. The problem seems to only happen when engine is hot. I took off the EGR valve and shook the carbon out of it, but was not sure how to clean it further. Any experienced help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I would have the TPS checked.
The Throttle Position Sensor can cause intermittent burst of fuel at the fueal injectors.
Also I would check the Idle Air Control Valve.
On the 94 you may have to jump ALDL connection, and try to obtain codes that way.

I will check those two items. As far as the jumper and codes, do you have more detail on the ALDL jumpering.

Thanks,
sounds like the intake air leak or check the fuel pump to see if its faulty two more things to check see if the fuel injector harness connections are tight and the other is check for a defective ECM(electronic control module) hope this help's good luck

Thanks,
I since replaced the Oxygen Sensor and the CES light has been staying off. As far as the surging and stalling, I think it may be a connection as it has not been happening lately.
