Inexpensive mods are:
- tuneup
- throttle cable mod (check out se-r.net for details)
- advance timing to 19 and run premium gas

The above should cost you next to nothing. If you want to spend more let us know your limit and we'll give you more details.

Oh I see you're in Houston! Head over to P10DET's place and sit back and sip on his Shiner Bock while he puts a DET in for ya! Right George? ;)

Just searched se-r net and did'nt find anything about it. Anyone care to fill me in? I'd like to do this and see whats up with that.

Sorry if I'm making someone repeat themselves here but I really did check se-r.net and can't find it.

Damn couldn't find it either. Anyway I'll give you the gist of it becase as I recall you're a little bit of a gearhead. :)

All this is tightening the throttle cable to take most of the slack out of it. It's pretty basic and has a nice feel. Justin mentioned it a couple days ago.

Heck yeah!

I've been talking about getting the Houston SR20 folks together again. Too bloody hot for a geekout, but I think we're going to do Hooters n Scooters again this weekend (Scooters is Malibu GP).

Well a beginner gearhead as far as the SR20 is concerned. There are many differences between this engine and the LESS performing one that was in my teg ;)

Thanks I understand now. Gonna head out right now and try it :)

I purchased a '96 G20 a few months ago and recently installed a NEW '91 SR20DE intake cam in place of the '96 intake cam due to differences in lobe height and duration. Sport Compact Car did an article on this in JUNE 2000 issue. Supposed avg. minimum increase of 7-8 HP with a possible 15 HP gain at 7000 RPM.
I have to admit, the car does feel a lot stronger now after 4000 RPM. Pulls much better up to the 7500 redline as well. The only other mods I have are a $tillen/K&N Intake and 17 degree timing. Total cost for cam was approx $165 not including new gaskets.

Did not know how cheap you wanted to go, but I thought this was a pretty inexpensive mod to add to your list.

Enjoy!

Another suggestion, check the classified section of se-r.net and this forum... Many times you can get killer deals on used intakes, headers, etc... Even if it's an older gen header, or an intake that's been used for a couple miles, many times it's half price, or cheaper. This is something I wish I would have looked into when i was buying the basic mods for my car. But next time I'll know.
But your budget would really control which of these mods you can or cannot get...
Hope this helps out.
