swapping a 3.0L engine w/ a 4.0L

I have a '99 Mazda B3000 w/ a 3.0L engine. The engine is blown. I was wondering about dropping a 4.0L engine in it. Does anyone know about hooking up the engine wiring harenss from a 4.0L to the truck? Will I have to splice any wires, and if so which ones? does anyone know where I can get info on this?

Your better off dropping a v-8 in that thing. the 3 liters and 4 liters are nothing alike. you have to change out all the wiring harness, mounting brackets and stuff like that. If your going to go through all that trouble, drop a v-8 in it.

I second that. 5.0L H.O.

i would need a '99 or newer since i live in CA, thats why i'm looking for a 4.0l, plus it would be alot cheaper for me cause i can buy a rolled ranger or explorer cheaper. any thoughts

First of all, the 3.0L is not a part of the same family as the 4.0L. Comparing a 3.0L to a 4.0L is like comparing a cat to a dog. The bellhousing on the transmission is different.

You will need the whole donor truck, and will need to spend many hours wiring that up. Unless you can get a painless wiring harness for it..

Your best bet is to drop the same engine in.
