98 Gti Help!!

I'm currently having some troubles with my 98 Golf GTI 2.0 and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem?
My car is making an unusual and loud noise, like a clack, clack, noise everytime the car is driving. As you slow down the noise slows down and vice versa. I have no problems getting into my gears and when the car is on, but not moving, there is no sound; even when I rep it up in neutral there is no sound, it's only when the car is in motion. What could this be?
CV Joints gone bad normally make a sound when car is turning, but this noise is constant, not just when it turns.
Any help would be appreciated, I'm not to knowledgable with cars...

Could be the cv joints. Also can be the diferential ( sounds more like the differential) which would mean time to replace the transmission.
