Hi, recently I posted about a little tune up I did. I did this and it seems to every once in a while, mostly when the engine has not run for a while, seems to 'stumble' when I try to get going. It's like it is choking for air or some weird thing. I cleaned the couple things I could on the tune up thread I did a while back. There did seem to be a problem with a tube. I cannot tell you what it is and I don't have a picture of it. It is a black tube that seems to come from the intake. I cleaned the inside of this when I was doing the tune up. I feel ignorant trying to explain it but I'm trying. The tube looks like a vaccum tube or something. It's coming off the throttle body I think it is. I can't tell where it's going to, but the more flemsy foamy ish pieces that connect the hard tube to the actual places they are connected have like dry rotted and are in crummy condition. That and I have an exhaust leak, I don't know, I've been looking through the threads and have not found any thing yet. I'm still looking.

Thanks again

I can't tell what the tube is from your description but it sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere near the throttle body that is causing your problems. Check everything and replace the lines as necessary. This should correct the problem.

I am pretty sure that's what it is. I remember when I had my 84 cougar 5.0 it had a vaccum leak, and quite a bit more wrong with it, and I am about positive it is a vaccum leak. Man if this fixes it I am gonna have a pretty sweet car still. Also, is there any way to adjust the idle on this car? It seems to idle just a smidge too low. I kind of want to put a bigger/aftermarket exhaust system on my car but I'm not sure how I should go about it. Thanks again GTP dad. :)

I just found my haynes for this car. I am figuring out where all the sections are.. But it does mention about vaccum leaks in all the symptoms I have. I'm pretty sure that's what that is.. I need to find the tubing for it.. Any know of where you can get it from?

Take a piece of the old tubing to any parts store and they should be able to help you. As for you idle question, there is no way to increase it as the idle is set by the computer. If you want an aftermarket exhaust then go with a cat back system. You should be able to find one at some of the high performance web sites. Try andysautosport.com, PFYC.com and a host of others. If you have any more issues, post them and I will try to help out.

Thanks a bunch GTP Dad. I also found a great site. It's, I don't remember the link, but it's about A body cars and there is a forum. I'm going to probably look into a high flow catback system for my car. There is one guy on the forums that has done his 3300 up pretty well I am going to talk to also. That tubing is so cruddy I don't know if I can get it off in one piece. Actually both of them I know can't be doing well because one has a rip in it I can see.. I need to get on that SOON.

I may have a spare vacuum tube like you are describing. 3300 tube but if you just mean the thicker part that holds tube on they get hard and crack after awhile just pull on off any gm vacuum line that is still soft and you will be okay.
