lol, yeah, swapping in V8s is no longer cool, the next step is the imaginary I6.

well its not a real nissan factory engine but ive heard of it. IIRC rb23 is a rb20 stroked with the 2.5 crank and you can also make a rb24 which is the same thing but with the 2.6 crank. and then you use the 2.0 pistons with it so you dont get taken all the way up to 2.5 or 2.6 L. i guess its just a cheaper route to an RB???

OHHHHH shit! You guys got shut down! Yeah, check out the Australia Skyline forums some time :P If you can get an RB30, then I wouldn't be really surprsied about the 23.
SR22? Maybe it was a 20 w/ a stroker, but no turbo... Would make sense, since most people change out the stock turbo anyways. Not likely though ;)
It's funny. You guys call out the people who post stupid questions that are usually misinformed or just plain dumb, but given some time, they make that sh!t a reality.
SR20DETT anyone?
KA24DETT anyone?
:D
(*hint* neither are typos)

one time a dude local told me he had a 240sx with a SR22de swap and then they turbo'd it.
LOL
the only reason that sounds funny to me is because they probably thought that the honda 2.2L engine was the only size they came in.. so they didn't believe the sr was a 2.0L and said "duh well uhh i guess uhh its probablyyyyyy aaaaa 2.2....... and maybe we'll pretend its the h22 and cook a bowl of rice on it..... uhhh with some noodles uhhh"
whatever, it IS possible to have almost any size i.e. sr22det BUT the engine code wouldn't be sr22det. if they knew any better, they'd say sr20det with a 1.-L to 2.-L stroker kit...
either that or i'm really really anal about that stuff

So let me get this straight, hes buying a car with a combo'ed engine to make something we no little or nothing about....and then hes asking what upgrades he should do with little or no info on the car and condition? and hes also upgrading from a 2.0l FWD nissan, which is no way alike to the car hes buying...i think he should do some more research or make a more detailed question?

i think he needs to ask a skyline specific forum for the ?'s about a rb23. and ask us about other things like suspension and what not. seriously mix and match engines is whack shit. reminds me of hw all the honda engines can be mixed and matched kinda. and im in no way comparing the rb series to hondas

I was like WTF is a RB23, but you guys answered that already
go find a good skyline forum, you won't find much help about that here i think
the RB30 is a real nissan engine in Australia, i believe it's a SOHC motor from something like a truck, i'm really not sure on what it was in, the RB30 hybrid motor that i have seen online was using a head off a RB26DETT i believe

theres a book on the rb30det or dett wtf ever it is. I didnt buy it though cuz i really dont give a shit. But i think i remember it saying it was really really really expensive like 10k or something.....i dunno i forget. I almost bought it(the book lol), but it wasnt solely on the rb30, there was a chapter on it and how they built one up. looked damn cool though.

Sigh.....
The RB30E... was a base model single cam. I have heard that they were in a GM/Holden Commodore '86-'88 and in the R31 Skyline. There is no such thing (production) as a RB30DE(T). There are different combinations using other RB heads (NA and Turbo) and the RB30 block: RB20-Head/30-Block RB25-Head/30-Block RB26-Head/30-Block...
I have never heard of the "RB23"... Heard of an "RB24" but I don't remember what you need to make it... these RB variations of-course are not production models.

Sounds like a ghetto way to get the RB20 to Suck less.
SR22s do Exist from the factory... Nissan Elietist could throw down in here... I swear to god he knows every SR20 nissan rolled of the line.

so why buy a rb23 over a 25 ?

it seems like its just a cheaper DIY way to have a turbo six. rb25's can be had pretty cheap though so i really dont know.
