photo booth

ok, i've got my new digi cam, and im wanting to put together a photo booth, as most of the time when i am able to take pictures it is after dark. i look on steve's site (hiroboy) and he mentioned making one out of MDF and painting the inside white. i was thinking something more along the lines of a frame with a sheet stretched over it to filter the light, and using some lamps to get the right lighting. can anyone comment on this or give some direction?

I'll be building mine soon. I'll use foam board for the main structure, and then drape a sheet over it. I'll have diffused overhead lighting, as well as diffused lighting on the object. The lighting is the key element. If you have shadow's in the wrong places then it will look like crap.
Its the lighting that makes a good picture, not the photobooth. Half the time its just a sheet taped to a wall and draped onto a table.

What kind of lighting are you going to use? I plan to make one, too, after I move (modeled after someone here's collapsable one) and I am wondering what lights I should get to get the truest colors indoors, and also how to place them around the car. Someone here had a thread or a link or something to a good explanation - was it one of the ACME guys?

I think it was Scale Wiki that has a very good article on lighting. for now i just use a piece of white poster board for a back drop then i light from above with my "True Light" hobby light by Daylight. and i tape a piece of .015 styrene over the flash. just started doing this and ive been getting good results.

This is my indoor setup and the result.
I have set it up so I have a soft light booth close to the PC, as per the photos, that way I can control the camera from the PC using Nikon Capture Camera Control and check the pics quickly and make adjustments.
I have found these setting best so far with the Nikon D70 and the lighting setup I have.
Manual Mode
Shutter speed : 1/25 Sec
Aperture : f20
Exposure Comp : +1 2/3 EV
Metering Mode : Multi Patern

PVC would work great for you White97. cheap and easy to work with. go to the plumbing section at Home depot and get inspired!

Another setup to add to the photo booth thread. It's just an empty shelf with lights taped to it.
