Test pipe or High Flow cat???

Ok, i have the Tsudo 2.5" exhaust on my civic with B18 swap. Right now i just have a custom straight pipe. My exhaust sounds like shit once it reaches around the 3000 RPM level. Anything lower makes a nice deep sound. But when you hit around 3k it makes that horable "RICE" crackle sound. There is an integra driving around with my same exhaust but his sounds really good but i can never catch him to ask what he has.

So should i get the highflow cat or one of them Ebay test pipes which is like a glass pack and would probably change the tone? My exhaust has quite abit of back presure i would admagin because its not a canaster. What does everyone else have on their B18 swaps?? I want what will give me more power also.

OR SHOULD I SELL THIS EXHAUST AND GET A BETTER BRAND?

Why does it sound like crap over 3k rpms? That exhaust in the pic is stainless steel and has a resonator in the mid-pipe (correct amount of back pressure in correct placement). My custom deal is the same way except I have aluminized piping and a canister muffler with a real high flow cat and it sounds pretty good. I had a turbo muffler about the same size as the one in the pic with a similar tip set up and it was pretty quiet and that was without the resonator. Maybe you need to tune your car... I recommend a real high flow cat.

With my timing advanced i get the same thing but only when im really on it and only till about 4000rpm then goes away. I have custom(non-mandrel bent) 2.25" piping and muffler now but Im about to redo my exhuast with 2.5 piping and muffler, and gutting out a 2.75" or 3" cat and run a pipe through it for that straight pipe feel consealed with a cat installed look.

Factory cat is fine till you start hitting around 250hp so it wont make a rabbit shits worth of differnce.

i beg to differ Silent, my budy has the same motor as me(DOHC ZC), he had a cat on and replaced it with a straight pipe and felt a difference, more and quicker responciveness(yeah like thats a word), but never the less it made a difference, still couldnt beat me but he is closer then before.

I think he meant a new catalytic converter as opposed to a 15 year old one...

Oh, your right. Butt Dyno compaired to real dyno. Ever happen to cross your mind if people follow the emission standards that they wouldnt have to keep getting stictor on them?

emmission tests werent any part of this, if he wanted to pass emmissions he wouldnt have a straight pipe on there anyway. He just wanted to know how to make it sound better. What i want to know is if twyztidmind has his timing advanced, and if he gets on it everytime hes driving, if u floor it off the line u dont get the right mixture and u run rich which would cause that noise more then if you just give enough gas to get you goin faster, increase the throttle while your speed is climbing, dont go to far ahead with the gas peddle, u can hear and feel when your just dumping gas in without getting a good burn which will not give u any tork or hp. But this is all in my opinion.

Nah, I had mine removed in favor of a third nipple between my ass cheeks

wow i was gonna do the same after i took this foot out, but i dont want to seem like a biter so i will just have to install this shiny 3 prong fork instead.
