the rs and gs have the same motor so there would be no perforance gain out of it if thats what your thinking.

if urs is bad and you want to find one id say anywere from 500 to 1000 depending on were you find it.

Direct swap. No need to fabricate anything. It's the same motor.

Thanks for the info but I heard that you can add a turbo to the gs and it would actually be faster than the stock gs-t. and you can't add a tubo to the RS because of high compresion it would blow up the engine...so I'm trying to swap engines to be able to add a turbo. if is what I heard is wrong let me know

What you heard is wrong. The 420a in RSs and GSs is the same.

The part about turboing a 420A motor that can produce slightly higher hp numbers over a stock gst is true. One of the moderators, who seems to have taken a vacation, has done it and gotten those numbers.

Who the hell would be dumb enough to say something like the RS and GS motors having different compression and shit. They are the exact same engine. I suggest you quite listening to whoever is telling you that stuff, and stick with us. We know what were talking about.

It costs more to turbo the n/a (with a kit) than it does to sell the n/a and buy a used 2g turbo.

----So you are saying I can turbo my RS and wont need to swap engines.--

yeah you can turbo your rs. you don't need an engine swap. However its not wise to push more than 10psi or so on stock internals and thats if your engine is in great shape.

It will take time, lots of money, and even more cussing but its been done alot and can work out quite well. I was gonna do it but I'm too lazy lol so I am just going to wait on boost till I can afford a Gsx.

I think theres a sticky thread named "turboing a rs/gs/esi" or something to that sort that has all sorts of great info on it. peace

Sometimes.

Having to sell your car, which you might not even get what it's worth for, takes time and money. Then having to buy a turbo car will be more expensive (unless you go with a cheap 1g, but I'm assuming you want a 2g), along with higher insurance, and the taxes associated with buying a car. Might be cheaper to turbo the RS.

This is true, but its a huge pain in the ass to turbo a NA car, especially if you want lots of power. Look at Jake's (EclipseRST) sig. His 97 RST with 353WHP @ 18psi ran a 12.73 @ 113. His 97 GST with 274.6WHP at 15psi ran a12.71 @ 111. I bet hes got a shit load more money into the 420a to be EVEN with a slightly modded GST. Even if it took a little longer and a couple hundred bucks extra, I think getting a car with a stock turbo would be lots easier and you would have more potential.
