Hello all....i have recently purchased a 98 Eclipse GST with 88,000 miles, when i test drove it i noticed it missfired just a bit, i figured it was something minor....bad spark plugs was my immediate thought, it had a great price so i decided to drive it home that day. I got about an hour away from the dealership onto the highway....and the problem got worse....seemed to miss more frequently and also seemed more rough. I was curious as to see what people on here thought before i jumped to any conclusions....i was told possibly it was some sort of sensor problem or fuel injector, if i could get any input it would be greatly appriciated ....thanks a bunch guys. =D

Why not just pull the plugs and check them out to begin with. That way you eliminate the obvious answer and we can help you after that.

Plugs are cheap, go pick up some NGK BPR7ES and slap them in.
Also take a look at your wires, they are liable to be as old as the car. Might want to replace them also.
Deal with the cheap stuff first.
Do you have a RM CEL?

Hopefully th dealer will take care of the problem, if not it's gonna be really expensive, especially if you need a new head.

It is unlawful in most states for a dealer to sell a car with a problem. I'm not sure if its a federal law but it's referred to as a lemon law. If the car had the problem when you bought it and the dealer didn't disclose the problem, they could be liable. Of course they can always say that they didn't know about it. If it's a reputable dealer they should take care of you.
