95 2.2 engine into 97 cavalier problem!

The 1995 2.2 does not have a camshaft position sensor on the engine but the wiring in the 1997 cavalier has a connector for the camshaft positon sensor. If I get all the other connectors connected except for the cmp sensor will I be lucky and have the car start or no.
If not is there a way around this little problem?
