95 - Engine turns - doesn't Start

I have a 95 Aurora that turns over well, but does not fire up. Replaced the fuel pump and the oil pressure switch - still no start. If I squirt starter fluid in the throttlebody it will turnover right now... The engine backfired several times weeks ago and now I'm thinking cam location sensor. Don't have a scan tool but need to get one.. Nother ?, where can I get a scan tool that will work on 95's? Seems like the OBDII's work on only the 96's and newer.. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Thankx for the info...
I finally found the NOT STARTING to be a fuse.. DUH.. However, when the vehicle was under load, it missed terribly.. Plugs and then wires.. Found that 2 terminals on the coils were really rusted and hardly making contact. Problem solved..
Three days later, missing again.. Son's car - so now I have to wait till he brings it back to take another look at it..
Thankx again.. Frank

TJM-Thanks for the information---
Wouldn't ya know it..I have an OBD-II scanner.

If it has an OBD-II connector..what would happen if I plugged in my OBD-II scanner?
But better yet, wher is the connector. It's not visible under the dash panel?

tks

Nothing will happen since electrically and software wise obdI and obdii are entirely different beasts

Tony, you look straight up from the floor on the drivers side and there is a little sliding door. Slide it open and the unit is there facing the floor.. Frank

I've looked in Ebay and general search engines for the OBD 1. Plenty of OBD II's.. Can't find one.. Anyone know of a good scanner and where to purchase it?
