So im buyng a 94 firebird with a 3.4L auto tranny

are there any structural differences between this model and the v8's? the reason being i want to put a 350 in it and creat some power upwards of 400+ hp

is this a possibility? also can i convert the car to manual tranny without too much hassle?

thanks in advance

Your better off buying a V8 model than the 3.4 than, there are a long list of parts require to change to put a V8 in there and the price difference between the 2 models is much less. So its not worth it.

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing. By the time you would get done with swapping all that out, you could have already gone and gotten a Trans Am or Formula and saved yourself the hassle.

thanks

the thing is though, I'm getting a fantastic deal on the car so i thought i would try and go for a 350 swap.

thanks for the repsone tho

Well if the deals good enough that you feel you shouldn't pass up. Then get the car. Heck, I've got a 3.4, and love the thing. Yeah, it'll never compare to a V8, but it gives me the satisfaction I need. People severely overlook the potential the 3.4's do in fact have. If it's got low miles, body is in good shape, and the price is right. Then hey man, I'd go for it.

how difficult would it be to change the car over to a manual tranny? and how much money would this cost? I think it would raise the resale value of the car at the very least

Once again more than its worth. The main reason it's so hard to change this sort of thing over lies in the computer swapping neccessary to do it right. Any amount you'd increase the cars resale value, if it even does...usually an automatic fetches higher blue book values, is lost and then some in what you spend swapping it over.

I think you would find converting the car over would be an endless project that you would end up regretting. You would need a used/wrecked V8 car just to get all the parts from. The 6-speed transmission alone is $4500 new or about $2500 rebuilt (if you can find one). Then you have to find the shifter linkage, install the clutch pedal, clutch assembly, and change the center console. The electrical/computer problems alone would be a nightmare. I bet you might need new springs for the heavier engine, a larger radiator, maybe even a different fuel pump and high-pressure fuel rail for the thirsty V8. Do want you want of course, but I would buy that good-deal car, sell it for a profit, and then get a V8 car. Good luck whatever you do.

alright well the v8 swap idea has been scrapped

I think i'm just going to do intake, and exhuast on the v6 and leave the thing auto...

i've got plans for it already!!
