Camper wiring, tailgate removal

I just bought an 8ft camper for my 2000 2500 "old body style" and I wondered if anyone had any tips on how to power up the the exterior lighting. It's got a round plug tail, I think seven way. Also, I have'nt tried taking off the tailgate yet, is there a trick to this? Thanks

you need trailer socket on the truck.
the tailgate- remove straps , open at a 45 degree angle pull rt. side straight up an pull it to the right
