question for LAN experts !?

hello everybody !
i am using win 98 SE in a 3 computer LAN with a 3 com hub !
i wanted to ask ! can i use NETBEUI as a sharing protocol along with client for microsoft and printer and file sharing without the need of TCP/IP ! and what is the difference between usin NETBEUI and TCP/IP in a LAN ! ?

You may be able too, but with all the networks I've set up using 98 I had Netbeui, TCP/IP and IPX installed. At one point I didn't have IPX running, but I've never not had TCP/IP

thnx for help man ! but did use IP ' s in TCP/IP for the computers ! ?

like gonthax said you may be able too but if connected to the net you have to use tcp/ip. but without the net yes you can use netbeui for what you specified as long as it doesn't have to jump betworks.
