go to tirerack.com, and search for a tire for your model car in a 16 inch wheel, and it will tell you what size you need

when i mean best im talkin about overall performance i just wanna know what width tire is best for speed and cornering, i mean i always heard the wider the better but tirerack.com says 205. my friend says 235 is probly good i mean more tire surface touching the pavement the better traction and handling right? the wheels i'll get will probly be 16x7's so they could have 245's on them if i want

i would defently go wit da 235 if you go to www.discounttiredirect.com you can pick your wheels and theyll show your tire size needed to be exact if you want

Wider would be better for cornering and such like you described... but they are going on a Civic. The more that is on the ground making friction the more "drag" will be on the car. Not literally but if you have too wide of tires it will actually slow the car down. I would say go with 205's. They are pretty much the optimal width for most applications of Civic tuning. There ARE exceptions though.
