What tires are best?

I've gotta get new tires for my Buick next week because the tread has worn down and it didn't pass inspection. I've always just bought the same tires from Discount Tires that are around 50-60 bucks a piece. I kinda feel like my tires might last longer if I go with some that are just a a little bit more expensive. Just looking for some opinions...

1996 Buick Regal 3.8L Custom Sedan 142,000 miles and still running....

In my experience, Michelin Hydroedge tires are of exceptional quality. I can drive a 99 park avenue with them at 70 in an inch or so of standing water and be glued to the road.

They do pick up nails and screws frequently since they have deep treads. They have a treadwear of 770 also, which absolutely rocks.

I'd recommend Cooper tires. My dad runs Cooper Lifeliners (fairly cheap, economy tires) on his 95 regal. They do well, they even have a good squel like all coopers when ya spin them :P His current set have lasted through my driving and still going good...they are good tires.
I myself go for Cooper Cobras (on my 85 regal), more of a performance tire, but still good all-year round control. Basically, coopers are good tires...I guess it depends on where ya live.

Later.

I live in Dallas Texas, so think hot as hell during the summer and mild winters...

I ended up getting these bad boys from Discount Tire Co (http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/findTireDetail.do?rcz=75287&mk=BUICK&rc=TXDINT&yr=1996&c=1&cs=205&dVeh=dVeh&pc=15673&vid=004020&rd=15&ar=70) the Arizona Silver Edition, they were definatly a step up compaired to what I was paying. But they seem alright and are supposed to last 70K which, really, as much as I love my Buick, I don't think I'll keep it for 70K more. Considering I've had it since it came off the lot!
