97 Blazer AC question
1997 S10

Recently purchased a 97 S10 Blazer and had a question about the AC. When running the AC in any mode (Max, normal or bi level) a fair amount of the cool air is directed out the defrost vent onto the windshield. Is this the way the system is designed or is something amiss? If something is wrong, what or where should I start to fix it?

Hey, I had a similar problem, if you do a search for Vaccum you 'll find your answers. (mine was just a hose that led nowhere, plugged it and voila, ahhh.. cool air from where it was suppose to come out of)

I have the exact same problem, makes sense that it is a vacuum issue. I do have a Chilton manual, but no vacuum diagram are in it. Does anyone have a diagram they could scan and email? Newer vehicles just seem to be filled with vacuum lines and wiring, since I am getting some air out the "normal" ac vents is it more likely that the problem is from the selector switch (heater/AC) to the vents?

Check all vacuum lines in the engine compartment coming to and from the engine..
Make sure they are all connected properly.
After, check all the vacuum lines in the dash.

Thanks for the information, popped the hood and immeadiately found the vacuum line to the vacuum ball on the hood was cracked and had fallen off. Replaced line and the AC vents now work fine.
Thanks!
Thanks!

That was my same problem as well... they must make the hose that goes to that black vacuum chamber really crappy!

Mine was crappy too.
It is a flex point when you open your hood.
