how reliable are the cars made in Brazil? I am getting an 04 gti 1.8t and i learned that this was assembled in brazil, i've heard that brazilians are more reliable than the ones made in mexico. can somebody enlighten me more on this subject??

I just bought a 05 gti 1.8t also made in brazil, running fine for me.
except when the old lady ran into the back of it grrr.
just sitting at a light and pow 10 days old, needed a new bumper cover and bumper shock and some foam. also I think from that a vacuum hose came off for the divertor valve. good luck with yours.

Im glad you're getting a GTI, they're awesome little cars! I've read their reliabillity is "average" compared to the everyday car. Great choice!

back when i was looking for a gti, i ran into the same question as you are now... and what i found out, is that it being made is brazil is NOTHING to be afraid of.

thanx everybody i got the car a couple days ago, only has 5k miles on it, i am in love with it! Such a quality vehicle. And it definitely goes VROOOM!
