Rear hatch won't open, 99 XLT AWD V8

1999 Explorer XLT AWD V8 5.0L
I can't get the rear hatch and glass to open. Is it possible to take the interior panel off without the hatch being open so that I can gain access to the inside of the hatch?
Also can't turn overdrive off and both reverse lights are out, replaced bulbs and checked all fuses, still nothing. Any suggestions other than taking it to a dealer?
