ok, ive got a 1993 VR-4
I was hot-rodding around trying to impress some people and i let the clutch out too fast on a downshift...car bucked back and forth...now theres a squeek/rattle kind of noise coming from under and in front of the shifter. Also, i can kind of feel it in the gas pedal. Any ideas what it is or how to fix??

Another thing i noticed now, may or may not have to do with the incedent, but when im in neutral, theres a ticking, but it stops when i press the clutch. Sounds almost like a lifter, but that wouldnt make sense.

PLEASE guys...give me any help you can!

well to me it sounds like u might have broke the retainer on the throwout bearing or the bearing itself might be shot/worn badly/or something is mis aliened. that would make sense why the sound stops when depress the clutch.

....how do i fix it? new clutch? which brings me to my next question...

Alot of people seem to have the stage 3 clutch it their VR4/TT. Is it a good upgrade to get for someone like me who really doesnt race the car? Is it more durable than the original? Would you guys reccomend it or no?

Nothing will out last a OEM part its that simple, OEM is made stronger an able to take more wear an tare. If ur not going to race or anything or be worried about how fast ur launch is then dont even bother gettin a staged clutch its a waste of ur money. after all a stock clutch can run from 350-450$ depending on where u get it from, u rather pay that or 600+$ for something that u are not benifiting from?

crap forgot to answer ur question how do u fix it....
well if it is ur bearing which is bad which it mostlikely is an ur gonna be taking out the trans u might as well have a new clutch/and (clutch kit) put in cause isnt a 1 hour job. took me about 4 hours to change mine cause i dont have a lift an was working off the ground...<sucked

Thanks for the info about the clutch...i will stick with the original.

the noise turned out to be an easier fix then i though...the rear turbo protective shield was rubbing on a bracket on the firewall...dont know why it started after my bad shift, but anyway...thanks for your help man.

still have to worry about the clutch tick :o\

When i was poking around in that area, by the rear turbo, i noticed a ground cable coming from the firewall that wasnt connected to anything. Do you know where its suppose to go? I bolted to to one of the bolts on the plenum for lack of a better place.

Yeah if memory serves me correctly, it bolts to the back of the plenum. Also you can get an OEM clutch for much less than mentioned above if you do some searching. Forget who and where, but I know somebody got one much cheaper.
