3.9L Backfiring problem

I have a '92 Dakota Sport with the 3.9L Magnum V6 and 5 spd stick. At around 1800-2000 rpm the engine will cut out and backfire. I have put a new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and coil trying to solve the problem. I am totally stumped. I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about what else the problem could be. Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

Make sure that you are getting enough fuel to the motor, you might have a bad fuel pump, your filter might be plugged, you might need to get your injectors cleaned.

Thanks for the suggestion, I checked it out and I am getting fuel. I just can't figure out the problem. If anyone has any other possibilities I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Are you sure you are getting enough fuel? A partially clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump that is going bad will let you get some fuel but not enough to feed the motor at higher rpm's. Just a thought.

Have you had a new distributor put in? Make sure you ignition timing isn't too retarded that it's causing the backfire.

My truck was running like crap last year. ('95 3.9 auto) Everything checked out OK. No codes on the ECM. From previous experience and suspicion I changed the O2 sensor. Runs great now!

Thanks for all of the ideas but I decided to give up on trying to fix my truck myself. I need the truck to run well because it is the only transportation I have. I'll be sure to let everyone know what the problem is when/if I ever find out.
