I was hoping this was a sick joke. Andy was a good man, hes going to be missed terribly on the forum and by those who talked to him outside of our little world.
take something away from the tragedy though, and learn that of all the places to skimp on price, tires are not among them. recapped tires are for semi trucks guys, not performance cars.

yeah, its too bad it isn't a joke.
he's helped me countless times with car related matters. i didn't know he was only 22, he definitely had something good in store for his future. its sad that it had to end due to poor tires. and it happened while he was trying to help someone else.

Was he not wearing a seatbelt though? Because it said he was thrown out of the car, although I know as much as the next guy does, only according to what we've read. I was hoping that this was a sick joke, but I kept reading on the Turbo Buick forum and his uncle posted so it kinda sealed the deal there.
Btw can someone tell me what recapped tires are? Is it just a tire that has had a repair because of a hole? Kinda like a bike if you will (only thing I can relate to)

recapped is when your tires go bald you get new treads stitched to the old tire... like retread on a big rig... (thats why you see chunks of tire all over the roads becasue they go pretty easy)

they can determine your speed through physics. if you slam on the brakes and leave skid marks, they can tell how fast you were going. they can also calculate for the given information like the mass of the vehicle and number of times it has flipped and distance traveled, and then figure out how fast you had to be going for the end results.

We will miss you Andy, you were always there when we had a question (or when I had about 600 you were on it all the time and always helped me understand better.)
Andy was doing over 100mph. Speed kills guys, even *with* a seat belt. Remember this the next time you plan to go racing on the highway. We can learn from this terrible tragedy without disrespecting a good man.
Thank you Andy for all your knowledge and caring on the forums.

Hey guys just some more information as it comes to light. Andy was driving a GN that one of his friends had purchased. The previous owner was the one who had the tires recapped.
This poor gentleman feel absoutely horrible about the whole thing:
FWIW, those tires were on the vehicle for two or three years with several thousand miles on them and I never saw any odd wear or anything. They were also purchased directly from the retread company and had nothing to do with BGC. Thought that should be clarified. Please believe me that I would NEVER knowingly sell a vehicle that I thought was compromised.

If anyone would like to just take a few moments to write up a little something on Andy let it be a funny post that made you laugh or how he answered your question or PM or how in some way he effected your life as well I would greatly appreciate it, cause Andy gave alot to this forum and if you had known him you know he took this forum and his advice very seriously and we should all in this time express to his family just how much we all appreciated this. There will never be another like him.

yea, i was getting that feeling from that post on turbobuick, it sounded like he just picked up his buddies car and was heading to his house when it happened, but i wasnt sure... thanks for shedding more light on this.
he had no idea what he was walking/driving into, just think about this tho, he had to get to that car somehow, so to drive all the way out there... atleast 14 miles. (ppl have busy lives & im sure he had 1 too), just to park his car and pick up the other one to take it all the way back to his place to fix it, it just goes to show you how good of a man he really was.
