I finally bought and installed my frontmount IC. For a very long time I thought the hassle of rounding up all of the parts, or the expense of a manufactured kit, or even the difficulty of the install would prevent me from ever doing this mod, but the stock smic was just not enough for my EvoIII 16g.
The total cost for the project came in just over $300.

Sweet deal. If I'm feeling ambitious I'll weld beads on the pipes. When I'm feeling less ambitious, like yesterday, I just make for slight bends with a pair of channel locks. Never had one come apart with a POSr channel lock bead. :) But if it stays together the way it is, nothing wrong with that.

I want to get this done this year also. I have been looking at ebay FMIC's, trying to find something like 20x8x3-2.5's. There are a few guys locally that do IC piping so I might give them $200 to do it all nice for me. Sidenote, ebay silicone couplers are about $22+11shipping for any size/bend and T bolt clamps are real cheap on ebay too.
Now you need to tell us how much more boost you added, and DSMlink logs!

That looks really nice, great work. After looking at yours now I want a Johnnyracecar FMIC...instead of my supra SMIC.

Well shit joe, if you say your core fits well without a whole lot of chopping, I might have to get one in a few weeks. I was worried about such a long core. Did you get centered or offset inlet/outlet?

I see alot of people going with the johnnyrace car , i get the impression that they dont make any bar and plate intercoolers. so what made you not get a bar and plate, even tho they are more efficent? price?

A note on the couplers, that is one area where I don't like to skimp. I tried www.sporthoses.com (samco) and will continue to use them. They are not the cheapest, and it can take a couple weeks to get the parts, but the Samco couplers really are badass. Of course on a more typical setup it may not matter much. But when I was pegging the 35 psi boost guage trying to get the car setup at the SO last year, they held up great. Very thick, about a 1/4 inch. These are the couplers on my site on the 3.5" UICP page if anyone is interested.
