Stripped threads

My question is regarding stripped threads. I stripped out some female threads and I fixed it by tapping it and installing a helicoil in it. Unfortunately the thing just stripped out again so I will have to do another fix. My concern is that I will have to enlarge the hole even larger this second time around and I really don't know if there is enough metal in the hole to hold a good amount of torque. Someone suggested using jb weld to file the hole, then drill and then tap the hole to the size needed to make new female threads. I really don't think that an adhesive will work for an operations like this sense I want it to hold a good amount of torque. It doesn't have to be completely torqued with the strength of an arm but just modestly torqued. Still I am very sceptical. What is the best thing to do in a situation like this. Thanks alot for your time. Sincerely, MIKE

Maybe your arm is just retard strong. :-)
Seriously, Depending on the application you may need to weld it back full and rebore/tap it.
Good Luck.

I didn't strip the helicoil the second time around. If that was the case I would just install another helicoil. I stripped out the metal casing that the helicoil needs to hold on too.
I really didn't apply that much pressure when I tightened it the second time it stripped. I quess that sense you didn't reply to the question about using the jb weld to solve the problem I am just going to assume that it isn't worthy of your reply because it won't work.
Is there any good places online that sell threading inserts. I found a sight that had what I am looking for but it has a 25$ minimum order on it. It is just an insert that is m12 on the outside diameter and m8 on the inside diameter.
Thanks alot :smokin:

We have M12-M8 and M14-M8's. However they are 25mm (1 inch) in length. (866-521-4007 Toll Free US)

JB Weld might hold for a little while. It is more for emergency type repairs. Like fixing a farm tractor for the harvest while waiting on a part to be delivered. Is this Heli-coil going into aluminum? If so will need to just go up to the next size heli-coil, then if you can use a bolt to fit the new larger size. If you cannot use a larger bolt then you will need to make you a bushing. This can be done by drilling and threading the inside of the larger bolt. Cut it to length and loctite it in the helicoil. Now your old bolt will fit as good as new. Good Luck.
