Hey all..
im new here..
and my english is not so good.. hope you will understand.. hehe..
i have a bmw e38 730ia from 94, and there is not at OBD-2 but a OBD-1- so my question is what do i need to read it with. and where is the connector for the odb-1, some say the that the only thing a need is a obd-1 cable to connect from the car to a pc. is it possible.? and if it is where to buy..

The diagnostic port is located (on USA cars) just back (aft) of the oil dipstick. It is black, a bit smaller thn a beer can and has a twist off plastic cap. Once you take the cap off, you will see 20 little pin holes in two circles and the center looks like a PAC MAN. I have no experience hooking up a PC but the folks at roadfly.com might (there has been discussion) or the UK sevenseries register. I would try those two sites.

I have a '95 and found that you can read the codes without an OBD I reader. Here is a link that has the directions. I did it and got the codes. I have not been successfull clearing them yet.
