He won't because he will gwet his license revoked and he will be on his way, since no one got hurt or killed it won't matter and the guy who was drunk might serve time for it but not sure...

DUI is a sentence right, you will get a time for like a year right, not sure?

Exactly. A 19 year old drunk driver recently jumped the curb and ran right into the front of a neighbor's house...cracked the foundation, and the house has now been deemed unliveable. I really hope that he doesn't get away with it, but get the sick feeling that he'll just get a slap on the wrist, even though he's 19 :disappoin

Nah he prolly won't serve a day except maybe if he had to spend the night in lockup. Depends on how many Dui's he's had over how long(many factors in this stuff). Lose his license for at least a year but will still be allowed to drive for work and one day a week for like a total of 4 hours if he gets a conditional. The guy in the F150 will only have to pay for his truck to get fixed if he wants to (except if the owner of the body shop files a civil suit against him for the cost of the Modena). The body shop owner is the one who gets screwed in this situation. Because the car was in his possesion on his property his homeowners/business insurance will cover the cost of fixing the ferrari. Drunk driving laws are so fucked up in this country. Unless you kill someone or it's like your 20th offense nothing even happens. All that happens if you have to pay lotsa $$, lose your license for a little while, attend classes, and if you get charged with felony dui then it gets put on your record. This happened to a friend of mine(not a friend anymore). He was wicked wasted and drove home from some party( I wasn't there). I get a call from him at like 4am asking me to come pull him out a ditch/snowbank(I'm like ok but you owe me so fucking big). I go down there and it turns out he smashed into the side of somebodys house. Cops arrest him and he blows a .18! They don't even hold him in jail overnight they let me take him home. He was 19 at the time this happened and was drunk, caused property damage to someone's house, had about an 1/8th of bud on him and a half empty 12pack in the back seat. He gets off with a reduced charge of DWAI (non felony charge only a misdemeanor), suspended license for a year but could still drive to work, school, and from like 2-6 on one day a week. He didn't even think it was a big deal!! still drove drunk all the time (even while on probation) and swore that someone else was driving him in his truck home that night( to the point where he found someone that was at the party that night and beat the shit out of them because he said they were driving and fucked him with a dui). Anyway, he didn't have to pay a dime for the person's house that he hit their own insurance covered it. So a year rolls by and I shit you not, about a week after he gets his full licnese back and probation is over he gets another DUI!!!!! At 10am none the less. Blew a .10 at fucking 10 in the morning and was also coked out of his mind. I think drunk drivers should be put in a crash test car and then have the test run that way when they get hurt/killed maybe they will understand what they are doing with other people's lives. Peace-

I believe I'm correct in saying that in Sweden, if you drive with any more than 0.00% blood-alcohol, you lose you license for good. For ever.

Edit: Checked it out further, more than 0.02 is illegal, and 0.10 (which is the legal limit in some states) gets you two years imprisonment as well as the loss of license.

Well thats a little harsh (drunken drivers should be shot) but, what if you go out to dinner and have a few beers/drinks/glasses of wine but your still straight to drive(i.e. less than 4 drinks in an hour) and you get picked up for a busted tail light or somethin. I think the way here in the US is pretty good .08 is the legal limit for the entire country (and some states have laws against .07). But generally how you get picked up is by failing the sobriety tests. I mean comeon, "stand on one leg, touch your finger to your nose, and recite the alphabet backwards" Shit I couldn't do that if it was 2 in the afternoon and I hadn't had a drop in two days. Peace-

07-24-2005, 07:25 AM
if he is a repeat offender he may not have valid insurance, and could have been driving without licence or insurance.....

in that case the home owners insurance covers everything and he has to sue the drunk broke guy for the money and he will never get it, although buddies insurance for the house should not go up, thats one of the accidents that insurance companies hate because they cant get their money back

They'll pay whatever is owed, even the guy's own truck and injuries. He'll then be cancelled, or given rates so sky high he will want to cancel.

I take offense to this. What makes your state any better than Arkansas? Every state has their drunk drivers. The man who owns the Ferrari is a body shop owner, and a very reputable one at that. Everyone around here has heard about this. The driver just so happened to miss the guys Corvette and R32. Get off your fuckin high-horse thinkin your state is 'oh so much better'.

I've been able to do it since i learned it forwards. My dad(rip) would always, randomly, say "Lee, say the alphabet backwards without stopping." I can say it backwards faster than most can forwards.

In general, nope; when a vehicle that's being driven strikes a house and the driver is conscious when the wreck happens, the auto policy will pay out for the damages.

If it had been a tree or lightning, then the homeowner's would cover it. But since it was a moving vehicle, the policy of the moving vehicle will have to pay since the driver in effect caused the damage to the house.

PSH. I never slow down for speed bumps. Hell, I speed up for 'em. It's pretty damn anticlimatic from what you would think, in fact they go by with much less of a fuss if you're doing about 45. I've also found that if you floor it as the rear wheels are coming off the bump, it greatly reduces the shock. :icon16:

Now, a speed dip, I would probably slow down for. Or speed potholes perhaps?

I agree about the speed actually - and it helps even more if you're not on the brakes (from any speed). Might be a bit different in a Ferrari which barely (or doesn't) clear the bump though...

Any speed dips I've encountered are very short in length (full width of the road, but only 6 inches or so in the other dimension) so you just sail right over them at speed :)
