TCC solenoid

I have a 1995 pontiac bonny with the 3.8 supercharger , the car started to have black smoke and no power , replace the coil pack , and the ignition module, plugs, pcv, and the Mass airflow sensor and nothing, still the same. Now I have a code for the TCC. There is no lockup or overdrive with this car, not full power and a lot of hesitation. Can someone tell me, if I replace the Tcc, is this going to help. Is this a easy change? I have done a CV boot change and have no problem to take a axle out. Does anyone have a picture of the Tcc valve and its location and where inside the side cover it it located, or steps on how to change it.

It may help with the drivability problems but before you change it have the car diagnosed to see where the problem lies. This could be a PCM problem rather than a transmission problem. You may also want to change your O2 sensors since the black smoke indicates a rich condition and the O2 sensors may be the culprit. If the TCC solenoid needs to be replaced I would not try to change it yourself. It is inside the transmission and will cost about $500 to change out. Good Luck!
