broken Axels.

well i was puting on my new Power Slot - sloted / dimpled rotors the other day and i noticed my axle boot was like busted and grease was every where ( same on both sides ). no i finaly realized what that clunky sound my car was makeing while slowly turning the wheel while stoped was lol.
i just wana know if nayone knows how much and what kind i should get ?? OEM ? or is their any other kinds i can look for ? i only have liek 300 bucks right now hope that will cover it .

assuming your cv joints aren't trashed, napa has a nice replacement for I think 12 bucks a boot. You'll also need to rent that clamp tool.

oh yea thats what their called CV shafts.....yea those are messed up i looked.....im going to need some new ones lol, bummer.....yea im gona goto kraigen and order some....i just got my paycheck its a godo one for me. ($675.26 ) so i guess ill have to put off my clucth job tell next paycheck.
least now i know what to ask or when i go in. thanks.

I remember reading somewhere that there was a recall on something like the CV joint or boot or something like that, might be worth checking out. Then it would be free from the dealer.

for just the CV boot kit or the whole axle? I got a new axle for my 1st gen for $60.

This leads me to believe that he just can't change the boot because the "clunky sound" is the sound of the CV shaft being bad the torn boot was the cause but it is just not the fix.
Go ahead and change both shafts and that "clunky sound" will vanish.

thats what i figured, i found out the reason mine are more expensive too, the ABS......lol and with my luck when i went to buy them their all " he we have those ine stock" but only when i said " oh the ones for ABS".....they say " oh, we dont got those".
lol thats just m luck, and their more expensive lol. oh well i got them for 205$ with a lifetime warrenty.
i know i could probably research it but since im here, how often should you change your CV shafts genraly?

Call the dealer and give them the VIN....they will be able to tell you.

I know it's a little late but Fidanza makes performance cv shafts (also called half shafts) But if the ones you have have a lifetime warranty than the only trouble you'd have would be changing them out if anything happened again.
