This has probably been beaten to death but for those who may want to read up on it, it's one hell of an article from a guy who knows quite a bit about it. It's from BOBISTHEOILGUY forums where there's nothing but fanatics about oil and lubricants. Good stuff.

What an excellent series of posts that this link points to. It talks about standard oils versus synthetics - and it covers the benefits of 5w/30 instead of 10w/30.
When I clicked on the link - not only did I read the immediate post - but I followed along on several that followed it. Nice reading.
