Need some suggestions here as my second mechanic is about to give up on it ..
The car shut off the engine during a drive and never started again - 1st mechanic suggested a new fuel pump so we exchanged that - car started for a minute and then stopped again .. 2nd mechanic found no pressure in the engine and the timing belt was off - so he reset the timing belt and got somehow ( sorry I have no idea what I am talking about here ..LOL) pressure in the engine - Car run just fine - he took it on a test drive and engine shut off again  .... Any ideas and comments are welcome as I really can't afford no new engine

sounds like your timing belt is stretched or broken. Have your mechanic replace the belt, and tensioner. Also, the SOHC 16v motor is an interference engine, so it's a possibility that you may have bent valves.

Stupid question but can the valves bent out of the blue ?

valves typically will not bend out of the blue. two possible causes for bents valves are:
1. broken timing belt
2. overreving the enigne
Both cases cause to valve to be located too far down the combustion chamber when the piston is moving up
