brand new 350, has absolutely no power

Arite well heres the story,

I bought a brand new 350 for my nova about 2 months ago, it has like 100 miles on it. The car wouldnt start one morning, so i checked everything out, and the ignition coil and control module were shot and i changed them. Started the car and it sounded fine, drove it around the block and thats when hell broke loose. It took the car litteraly 45 seconds to hit 30 mph...in 1st gear it reached a certain speed, and then i would have to shift. I would gun it and it has absolutely no power. Its very sluggish like its not gettn any gas, but i know it is. Carb is adjusted fine (edelbrock 600). Firing order is rite. Changed all the plugs thinking something didnt fire rite, but same thing happens. I dont think theres any vaccumm leaks. Anyone have any other ideas? im completley out of em

When you say "brand new 350", do you mean a "crate motor", a quality rebuild, or a reman? I must ask that because many people erroneously refer to a rebuild or reman as "brand new".
That being said, where is your timing set? If you don't know, you NEED to. How recently has your exhaust system been serviced or checked for restrictions or collapse? An exhaust restriction can certainly cause the symptoms you describe. Catalyst? If it's a catalyst car ('75-up), running extra-rich can clog the converter.
Those Edelbrock carbs have been a real sore spot for many. Most pro builders will refer you elsewhere. If yu want a Carter carb, buy a real Carter. Q-Jet and Holley are far superior. (IMO, based on experience, not advertisement)
Lastly, if all these things check out well, pull the valve cover on driver's side and check cam timing with a degree wheel.

yea its a brand new crate motor

Well, a new crate motor should have some warranty, so that's good. Almost sounds like timing chain skipped a tooth, but that's hard to believe on new engine. However, it may be worth checking if all else fails.

Try swapping in a completely new distributor (borrow one from a friend) to test.

Be sure and check fuel pressure. Also try a different carb and don't overlook the fuel filter. I have seen many carbs replaced when it was sim[ply a clogged fuel filter, LOL.

This should be an easy fix. Keep us posted.
