best street/strip tires

hey guys im going to purchase new tires for my eagle talon tsi and was wondering whats the best street/strip tires for it. im trying to decide between the bf goodrich g-force sport or the hankook ventrus R-S2-Z212. a buddy of mine wants me to get either tire in 215/45-16.i was leaning towards 225/50-16 on stock rims. i would like a good contact patch when im going to time the car. what do you guys think? thanks!

tirerack did a review on tires on DSMtuners a while back... you might see if you can find the thread. It used to be stickied. You need to be sure of what you're using the car for, depending on how many non race miles you need tread wear for.

the bf goodrich g-force have a much better treadware, 340 vs 200. but i'm not sure why you are going with those, they are pretty cheap... Your thread asked for the Best street/strip tires.

personally i'm loving my Toyo Proxes T1-S but they are like $140 each in your size and $200 each in mine size, so i guess for that price i better be loving them...

Personally, having worked at a dealer i can tell you BFGoodrich's are some of the best tires you can get in terms of quality.

I did hear that the Faulkin Azenis Sport tires are supposed to kick ass....But I haven't tried them yet.

I did some research and I found out that it probably might screw it up unless I get a wider wheel. i also was told that the Faulkin Azenis sports are really great tires. I'll look into those as well. thanks for all the replies.

Hell, I spend $160 each for these damn Indy S-03's and they suck ass.

Another thing to keep in mind is the Falkens and the Ventus' only have a treadlife good for 60,000 miles while the BF's have a tread life good for 102,000 miles.

The tires on the EVO are good for 5-10 thousand miles. Treadwear of 160 :D WTF? At 250 a piece they can get expensive I guess... But I am constantly and consistently impressed with the ridiculous amounts of traction the provide both on the launch and in the turns. They are a Yokohama Advan of some sort, in a 235/45-17. Or 18, I forget. At any rate, these things bog like crazy on a 5000 rpm stutter (Stock anti-destroy-the-drivetrain technology), I'm thinking about going back to the tires I ran for 4-5 years on the 2g. The Dunlop SP Sport 4000s I always talk about. Good enough to pull 1.55 short times on low profile 17, but still good enough in the snow that I got rid of my snow tires, and they last ~40-50k miles with tons of 4 wheel spinning launches, at ~150 a piece. But they are hard to find, and I have to imagine they will get discontinued soon from lack of sales. But I'm tempted to go back to them becuase I know they work, despite shitty reviews on tire rack. Shit, just looked, they don't make them in my size... Guess I'll stick with the 1000 dollar 5000 mile tires, WTF :D

Fow what its worth I love the Toyo Proxes 4's on my Cavy. They grip really well, but then again I have a 115 horsepower FWD car. I dont ever launch hard, but I found like 70 miles of 45 mph S-curves on my way to Fargo last summer... we averaged 75 mph all the way through :grinyes: and they stuck to the road like peanut butter to the top of your mouth!

I am running BF g-forces right now. Though I only have 1000 miles on them thus far, and never got an alignment yet, they definately hold the road very nicely. I used to spin whenever I floored it, now I just gooo. Very nice for the price, I think I paid 80 a piece, and are currently wrapped around my 16" k-1's. I would reccomend them, and I would buy them agian too. Even with the bad alignment, I see no treadwear as of yet. Though, I am still on ly at a measily 1000 miles.

The Dunlop SP Sport 4000s I always talk about.

I don't have any experience with the 4000's. I was running the SP 5000's (asymetrical) before these suck ass Indy S-03's. I also put them on my wifes Celica GTS and we love them. I changed because I heard such good things about the S-03's.

Guess I will be going back to the Dunlops.

This probably dosn't answer your question very well because I never go and actually race the car, but right now I'm using Pirelli P-Zero's, and lovin them. The treadwear so far has been very minimal, and I have put about 9,000 miles on them, with fairly aggressive turning and such. They do pretty well in most weather conditions. Very little slippage. I would definately buy these tires again.

Yokohama ES Z rated tires are the way to go I have a mustang right now :banghead: but the tires stick to the road like a cat on a rug. Im switching over to dsm shortly. But thats my 2 cents they cost about 600 bux for 4 but old saying goes you get what you pay for ya no. alright lata
